Homeschool PreK Week 15

Can you believe after having snow here for about two weeks, this week, we got none! Hah! We actually had some near 50 degree weather days which was wonderful because we got outside to play, but also...um, hello - weather?! Can you stick to the curriculum plans, please (lol, jk). 

Unit: Winter
Lesson: Snow!

There Was a Cold Lady Who Swallowed Some Snow

Song:
Dashing through the snow, in a one horse open sleigh
over the field we go, laughing all the way (ha, ha, ha)
bells on Bobtail ring, making spirits bright

Language Arts:
Story Connection: What would your snowman do at night drawing/writing
Matching uppercase and lowercase letters 

Math:
Probability: How many combinations of snowmen can you make with 3 options for each part (hat, face, neck accessory)

Fine Motor: 
Cutting small shapes (for snowflakes)

Social Studies: 
Discussion: Why is it important for snow to be off the roads? How does the snow get off the road? And where do they put it? 
Sorting clothing by what is appropriate for winter time

Sensory:
Pushing flour ("snow") around a pretend neighborhood with toy cars and trucks

Art:
Homemade snowflakes to decorate the breakfast nook!
