Intentional Outdoor Hours: 521+ hours (of 1000)
Enjoying beautiful weather with still a lot of green but that slightly chill breeze and warm afternoons. Friday Night Lights are still comfortably enjoyable, and we are all kind of loving the weather right now

Reading The Teller of Small Fortunes by Julie Leong and I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith. I missed our Lit Ladies book club (so sorry to miss, girls!) but I sent my notes about The Teller of Small Fortunes to the group. It was the perfect lighthearted and magical escape I needed in this moment right now with all the doom & gloom headlines. My mental health is in need of the found family joy of this book (great pic, Jo!)

Listening to The God of the Woods by Liz Moore

Running to do list:

  • Both Red and Olive had their kindergarten snack day this week.
  • Olive got her last filling done and did not have any issues after with her numb lip (yay!) She is all done and her mouth fills great. Very thankful for our amazing dentist and entire office at Dr. Garver's Johnstown Family Dentistry.
  • Haircuts for all the fellas - thank you Lamont, we appreciate you!
  • I had a chiro appointment, and it was amazing to get realigned
  • Brandon took the truck for inspection
  • I took Gemma for her follow-up bloodwork to make sure the antibiotics took care of the strep
  • We enrolled Grey's truck on our car insurance (oof) and he finished more of his online course for the driving school
  • Red & Olive both had snack day for their kindergarten class this week
  • Brandon got a new phone because his finally kicked the bucket (black cracked screen of doom). He really was due for a new one so always a hassle to get it set up, but a relief to just have it done.

Getting back into the swing of normal school days for the little kids after their wacky week off from the elementary school cleaning of last week. We had a little trouble re-adjusting to normal wake times and full days in school again but by the end of the week we were happy to be back in school with our friends and teachers! We got all our FID work turned in too!

Our Reddy Sketti is six and a half!We celebrated his half birthday on October 1st with pumpkin roll for dessert, measured his height, and sang to him.

Camo season officially in with the first day of archery on Saturday morning. Grey went out in the morning with Pappy despite being tired and sore from Friday Night Lights. He got home around Noon and went straight to his bed. hah!

Time with family and friends. Rusty and Violet got to have a sleepover at the Maurer's on Sunday night into the in-service day on Monday. Rusty got off the bus at Chum & Abba's house on Friday after school. Gemma and Abby went to get their nails done with Kuma (thank you for taking them!) Gemma had team brunch on Saturday morning before the big game and then she went on  a late night fast food run with her friend Zolina and then Zo did her eyelashes (peak teenage girlhood!) and then had Noah over for a movie. B and I went out for celebratory wings with the coaches and wives after the game on Friday night.

Teaching cognate Bingo and third grade learned about Venezuela in the elementary school. It was the last week with my 8th grade expo students and we finished up with the classroom objects vocab test. Last week with expo means we are already half way through the marking period! Spanish 1 continued practicing conjugating Ser and took their adjective vocab test (a big one!) Spanish 2 got to watch the movie Canela and they enjoyed it (the ending always has everyone locked in) and then they went on and reviewed it on Letterboxd (young people are hilarious).  I was officially announced as a member of the Planning committee (a team that tries to build community within the senior high staff through activities and events, aka what I like to do for fun anyway - so yay!) First order of business: choreograph a teacher flash mob dance for the upcoming homecoming pep rally! It is very simple and I already have some teachers that said yes right away!

Sporting with one basketball practice and two basketball games for Reddy. Rusty had two Minors football practices, a Minors football game, and two basketball practices. Violet two jrhigh soccer practices, managed three jrhigh soccer games, and watergirled for the Football team. Gemma had four Varsity soccer practices, a team brunch, three Varsity games (including Military night and Soccerfest), and asst trained at the football game. Grey had a sport massage from Miss Emma, four football practices, one team dinner & film, and one Varsity football game. I finished up the senior night plans: all my pins and bracelets arrived in time (thank you Etsy shop owners of: SweetLeisCadoodles and ajscustomjewelry!!) I created football locker signs that Violet, Brady, and Brookie got hung up on Thursday after school (thank you Leisha for all the locker numbers!), I requested messages from the team that organized into a printed letter for each senior, I purchased the treats for the CT and Marion Center senior bags (thank you Jenn and Becky for all that you did too to make it happen!) I also volunteered in the soccer concession stand for a boys' game, donated buffalo chicken dip and two dozen cookies to the soccer concession stand, and convinced some fellas to paint their chest for the girls' soccer game on Saturday night - Great job cheering boys!

Making church picnic chicken on the blackstone (thank you b!), crack chicken sammies, BLT Sammies, meatloaf with roasted potatoes and carrots, and a beef roast in the crockpot. I baked 4 dozen oatmeal/ chocolate chip cookies (2 dozen for our house and 2 dozen for the soccer concession stand), 2 pumpkin rolls for Reddy's half birthday. I also made a double batch of buffalo chicken dip for the soccer concession stand.
