Our irises are starting to shoot up and I'm hopeful. Please, oh please, oh please Spring. Make your way to me. I took all the kids to the high school one afternoon to run around and shoot hoops because we just needed to get out of the house.
Reading It's Not Summer Without You by Jenny Han - a borrow from my student Lily. The second book in TSITP series.
Attending Youth Mass for church on Sunday and it was so wonderful. All the kids did such a great job and it felt so meaningful and special. Rust and Violet both contributed by singing, Gemma helped demonstrate some dance moves (in front of the whole congregation!) and assisted in communion, and Greyson read part of the service.
Accidentally supporting ALL the fundraisers. like for real, all.the.things. HAH. it's actually not funny because I seriously spent so much money these past few weeks supporting kids and students. Girls Scout cookies (yep), Junior class popcorn for the prom (yep), Cougar discount card from a co-worker's middle schooler (yep), chocolate from the senior class (yep), Marianna's subs and pizzas from student council members (yep), lotto ticket raffle from the Volleyball team (yep)...um, oops?
Losing the will to get out of bed in the morning (LOL) but if B or I have to clean up dog poop or pee one more morning we might just perish. Thank goodness for washable rugs and swiffer wipes. We are holding on by a thread over here with this puppy house training for real.
Filling in my spring months in my planner with all the upcoming activities. If I said it once, I've said it a bajillion times - I would not survive without my planner. March-April-May is generally filled to the brim with activities between spring sports practices & games, field trips, concerts, and (this year) fifth grade promotion for Gemma. We also squeeze in there first day & mentor day of fishing and first day & mentor day of turkey hunting. Don't forget about Easter, Mother's day, and three of our kids' birthdays. Hang on to the reins friends - it's about to get a little wild. Even though it is crazy, I do really love spring; nature waking back up, daylight holding on longer each day, summer break on the horizon, concession stand food for dinner (lol). I'm excited, let's do this Spring!
Finally taking my annual headshots of the kids after it's been on my mind for way too long. Such a random thing, but I do love having them to look back at each year and everyone was good about sitting for me and getting them done with - even Wells and Heath!
Restocking our deep freezer. We got ground beef, pork chops, and sirloin steaks. Thanks to Pappy and Gigi who purchase and deliver for us from the meat store!
Thankful for our kids' friends' families who squeeze in to help. The Altimores took our elementary kids off the bus on the half day early dismissal while Grey hung out with the Stankans on the same day. Violet got a sleepover with the McDannells on Friday night and Grey got a ride home from the movies with the Holders on Saturday evening.
Teaching Brandon Brown Quiere un Perro - the second novel of the year to Spanish 1. We read chapters 5-7 this week and had a vocab test. Spanish 2 started Esperanza (their third novel of the year) and read Chapters 1 and 2. Spanish 3/4 worked on Movie Review projects for McFarland USA using the past tense in Spanish. I was on a popcorn fundraiser money collection spree this week and as of Friday, we have about most of the students paid in full - next week I start threatening (hah, just kidding, kind of).
Sporting with a indoor baseball practice for Rusty, Violet had a soccer practice with her Sparks team. Gemma had 1 soccer practice with her soccer tourney team the Fireballs on Friday night, then she played at CV in her last basketball tournament of the year. They played once on Thursday night and had two games on Saturday. Grey had baseball practice for Jr High every evening this week as the official spring sports season is now open! Violet and Rusty participated in BB Gun League for the first week (Gem will shoot twice next week) and I signed up Gem, Vi, and Rust for youth football/cheer season too! (2 cheerleaders and a flag football player!)
Making nacho & rotel dip, cowboy casserole, porkchops and mac&cheese, Copycat Olive Garden chicken over pasta, and pierogies. For keto we also had blackened tilapia (Red and Liv loved it!) and a porkchop and cauliflower bake we got from instagram (didn't love it). I made the kids a batch of pb/oatmeal/chocolate chip cookies and a batch of pb powerballs too.
