Intentional Outdoor Hours: 46+ hours (of 1000)
I need sun. It has been chilly all week and so gloomy, barely a sun ray peeking through at all. Rainy and cold and even snow squalls on my way to work. The grass is getting greener and the buds on the trees are showing up...but the sunshine and warm have missed the memo and it is bringing me down down down. We had two baseball games postponed this week and the soccer fields closed three days!? Come on, Spring! I believe in you!

Reading Cloud Cuckoo Land by Anthony Doerr

Listening to the last book in the Knockemout Series Things We Left Behind by Lucy Score because I just need something romantic and spicy and enjoyable to get me through my commute right now. Last quarter of the school year and this gloomy weather (and, ya know, the spiraling societal collapse of due process and constitutional rights) has me struggling to stay upbeat.

Inspection of our solar panels done! Now we just wait for them to be mapped and switched on! Very excited to start generating energy through the sun (and impacting our electric bill as soon as possible - please! hah)

Celebrating our 15year old! My Greyson Rudy turned 15 on Tuesday and it is (as always) impossible to comprehend. I took donuts to baseball practice and then we met the grandparents, Uchie, and the nephews out to eat at Woodside for a birthday dinner for Grey. He said he wants to wait until the weather is nicer for a birthday sleepover in which he and his friends are left in the wilderness to survive for 24 hours - Hah.

PreK testing and registration. I took a half day from work to take Red and Olive into Maple Ridge to do their PreK testing and teacher meet. They were very excited and both did a great job with their meet and greet. They each got to pick a new book and were so proud to say they were on their way to PreK! Now I just have to do all the paperwork in Powerschool and it will really be official!

More birthday parties! Rusty had two more this week (this kid has a million friends, no joke). He got to attend AJ's birthday party on Sunday at 814 Lanes&Games and Brody's birthday party at the Glow Rollerskating rink on Saturday! The kids and I made it to our cousin J's birthday party too and got to visit with our Adams family cousins.

Fishermen fellas in this house because if Grey can talk someone into fishing - he's going! B, Pappy, and Grey spent some time on Saturday fishing together. Grey has also been busy tying flies which makes me happy to see him focused and trying new flies and techniques. He was gifted a big box of feathers and supplies from Uncle Ray for his birthday (thank you!!)

Friends and teens - Gemma hosted a sleepover with Peyton and it is so nice to have teens in the house, honestly. Peyton played with the littles and her, they worked together on chores, and even baked brookie cookies. Grey went out to see the Minecraft movie with his friend group on Saturday night and had a blast. Thank goodness for good friends who help keep these teens I love so happy. (bonus kids are such a blessing!)

To keep a pulse on reality, I have been reading Heather Cox Richardson's posts every morning since February. She is a historian who gives meaningful insight and context into what is currently happening in this administration. I also appreciate updates from antisocstudies on Instagram (another historian and former public school teacher). In case you need a reminder - none of this is normal or acceptable or justified. You are not overreacting.

Teaching with a lot of color! The EV students had "show" week they colored by color a Pascua picture too. My expo group were on week 2 (camina & corre) and learned about El Encierro de San Fermin. Spanish 1 learned about Ser vs Estar through mazes and coloring sheets. They also worked on prepositional location phrases. Spanish 2 got stem-changing verbs in the present tense, practice home/ furniture vocab by color match worksheet (so fun!) and continued working on Direct Object Pronouns.

Sporting with a flexible schedule since the weather cancelled our outdoor spring sports a few days. Red, Olive, and Coach Mom had one AYSO 5u practice and Rusty and Asst Coach Mom had one AYSO 10u soccer practice. Violet had one AYSO 12u soccer practice and two Sparks soccer practices. Gemma had one Gators soccer game and attended weightlifting afterschool a few times. Grey had three varsity baseball practices and one Varsity baseball game. I printed off blank April and May calendars so I can start filling in game schedules as they get released for our family! And I updated our fridge calendar as best as I could for now.

Making beef chili, fried rice and quesadillas, out to eat for wings for Grey's birthday at Woodside, Philly cheesesteaks, bbq chicken wraps, and pierogies and kielbasa.
