Homeschool PreK Week 14

Tuesday, December 7, 2021

We used the holiday week to inspire our learning this week. We focused on Indigenous people including specifically the Osage Nation who occupied the area in which we currently live. We got to watch some videos, work on some Indigenous-inspired crafts like making a corn husk doll and weaving paper placemats (Rusty gave his to his grandpa to use at Thanksgiving dinner which was also Chum's birthday!)

I had seen on a few groups I'm involved in on Facebook this lesson guide which was really helpful in getting organized. I have also been on the hunt over the past few years for quality Native American children's books and so we had some on hand already that lent themselves perfectly to this week's focus. I wish I would have been brave enough (or had enough time) to try making Fry bread, but didn't get a chance this week. I'm adding it to my to do list for the future!
